Buying Supplies and Mixing with Concrete Contractors

Having a quality contractor in our neighborhood has made everyone in the area happier. I’ve noticed people doing more on their properties since I moved into my neighborhood. They see my truck with my name and description of my business on the side, and they know that I’ll be making improvements on the surfaces around my home. I’ve had plenty of neighbors come up to me; they approach me after I get back from work to ask me when I’ll be available to help them with their concrete needs.

In order to do your job right, you’ll need to make sure you have your work truck, or wherever else you might have available for storage, filled with supplies. You’ll want to avoid wasting time going to stores for things that you should already have. I try to keep a list of my work truck’s inventory up to date, so I’m never needing to panic on the job site. I like customers to see that I know what I’m doing. I’m prepared to deal with their concrete installation. If they need a new sidewalk, or if they decide they need a new patio in the future, they’ll remember me as an experienced and prepared worker.

Don’t look like a fool in front of the rest of the contractors when you go to pick up supplies. You know your trade by doing the work on a daily basis. Prove you know what you’re talking about when you go to buy your supplies and pick up material by knowing the names of what you are there to buy. Know the brands that you’ll encounter by doing a search online to see who the top sellers of each product are, so when you go to the store to pick up those products, you’ll have an idea of what to buy.

If you’re able to talk about the benefits of certain products as a concrete contractor, you will seem like a professional in the company of other workers. Being able to tell other contractors where you buy any topsoil East Berlin PA, shows that you are a valuable source of knowledge. This will also make you seem professional when you go to talk to customers.

It’s important to keep your truck and storage site stocked with all the materials you’ll need for the next few jobs. When items go on sale, I tend to pick up a few extra. For example, I noticed how a particular brand of concrete was selling pre-mixed bags at a low price last week, so I snagged a few extra pallets before anyone else could load up their truck. I’ll keep the extra bags at my storage site until I need to use them.

It’s a good idea to regularly go through your inventory. You’ll often find some supplies become water damaged. Going through your inventory on a regular basis gives your customers the impression that you know what you’re doing when you show up confident and ready for work.
